Elephant and a Balloon

Can u guess the theme of this super cute birthday party? COWS! Haha...I kid I kid. It was elephants. I love this invitation. It was so much fun to design and create.  I wish all invitations involved an elephant and a balloon :)

What was I thinking?

The title of this post describes my thought process when I realized it had been a billion years since I last posted on here. I have so many ideas in my head, but what was I thinking taking on another venture?  But I am here and I'm going to make myself keep up.

It's tough though with a baby, a husband, a job and more things that need to get done than I would care to think about.

Here is a very simple invitation I did for my boss' daughter's quinceanera. For being so simple, there's quite a bit about this invitation that I love. First are the colors. I don't think anyone could argue that these colors don't always look great together. Second, I love love love simplicity. I love empty space and thin modern fonts. And third, I love invitations that are short, sweet and to the point. Could this invitation be any shorter, any sweeter or more to the point?  This invitation is bold and simple all at the same time.

dream house

Bob and I have been patiently waiting to buy land and build and it is slowly but surely getting closer and closer. We basically know what we want, we just need to make it happen. Finding land has been the hardest part really. We will come across a piece that we love, we will go look at it and fall in love and BAM something will take the air right out of our balloon. But I thought I would share with you some home-spiration that we have filed away. Like all things Authement-Keates....it's all modern and rustic.  I love the contrast of something super rustic and natural with something modern and contemporary. Bob's more of a rustic kinda guy but I sometimes convince him to throw in a little modern twist.

a baby shower invitation for mary

Do you see a theme here? Yeah, I do a lot of baby shower invitations.  Probably because I'm in over my head in the baby world....because I have one.  But I love it! They are always fun to do and there are endless ideas.  Mary's baby shower theme was polka dots and animals and obviously lots of pink for there's a sweet little girl on the way. This was a super fun invitation to design.  Mary gave me free reign and she ended up loving it.

thank you

Sorry I've been MIA for a while. Between traveling for work and visiting family I've had little time to post, but not to worry...I'm back :)

Here's a thank you card I made for a friends engagement party.  She wanted something simple, sleek and nature inspired. I had them printed on this great linen paper.  They looked modern and rustic all together.

Empty frames

If you were to ask my husband what is the one project around the house that I'm working on that bothers him the most it would be the 6 empty wooden frames behind our couch in the living room.  I bought these wonderful frames at trade days in Fredericksburg months ago...probably about 9 months ago to be exact and they are still empty. I've had many ideas for them, but something crazy happened in April and we had a baby. So things were put on hold for a while. Well, it's been 6 months and I agree with Bob, it's time to fill those frames.  I have yet to tell him what I want to do mainly because I have about a million ideas for them but I have finally settled on one.... Botanical images!! I won't bore you the million other ideas I had for them but botanicals will be just perfect.  I have been cruising around the web looking for images I like and thought I'd share a few with you.  I plan on making this a DIY project so I will update you on the progress and the steps involved. Should be fun!

how fantastic is this room?
